Workers describe robberies at knifepoint at Jamaica Plain cell phone stores as police investigate

An investigation got underway this week after multiple armed robberies along the same street in Jamaica Plain. Security cameras captured some of the crimes, which all took place at cell phone stores. As police search for one man in connection with at least one of two robberies in the area, some of the people working at the targeted stores have described their experiences to 7NEWS. “He said ‘Don’t play dumb man. I’m not having a good day. Don’t do anything stupid. I don’t want to kill you man,’” Emmanuel Sanchez said of a man he said robbed him at knifepoint Thursday afternoon on Centre Street. “I tried to calm down,” Sanchez said. “Don’t do nothing stupid — because he had two knives.”The robbery Sanchez described happened 24 hours after a man showed two knives while robbing a nearby Boost Mobile store. “My employee is left for fear,” said store manager Ashley Cruz. “All the employees I have are in fear now of working. An investigation is underway after the remains of either a fetus or a newborn were found at a regional recycling facility in Rochester, Cape and Islands District Attorney Robert Galibois said Friday. SAN DIEGO -- Firefighters on Friday battled a single-family home fully engulfed in flames near Dehesa, first responders said.The incident occurred around 6:13 p.m. in the 4900 block of Dehesa Road, Cal Fire San Diego told FOX 5.The blaze spread to vegetation around the structure, according to the fire agency. ST. LOUIS (AP) — A St. Louis police officer was shot and wounded Friday afternoon during a welfare check for a man whose relatives were concerned about his mental health, law enforcement officials said.The 44-year-old officer suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his arm and shoulders but was conscious and alert, St. Louis Police Chief Robert Tracy said at a news conference Friday evening outside the hospital where the 15-year veteran was being treated.“These injuries could have been worse,” Tracy said. “And thank God they weren’t.”The shooting unfolded around 4:30 p.m. at an apartment complex west of downtown.
