8/12/2023: Strong storms later today

Published Sat, 22 Feb 2025 04:05:11 GMT

The latest Storm Tracker Forecast from meteorologist Matt Mackie:Saturday starts out spectacularly - cool temperatures and a refreshing feel to the air! Most were down into the 50's, and quite a bit of the Adirondack Park dropped down into the 40's this morning. But more and more clouds develop and, by mid-afternoon, will have given way to storms. Between that time and sundown, on and off rounds of heavy rain, lightning, and gusty winds are possible.Parts of Central New York and the western Catskills are in an "enhanced risk" (3 out of 5 on the severe scale) today. The bulk of the News10 Region is in a "slight risk" (2 out of 5). Scattered flash flooding as a result of those heavy rain downpours is likely the biggest threat. Though the strongest storms could down a few trees, branches, power lines, etc. Hail is also possible within those storms. Tornado threat is low, but can't be completely ruled out.Showers and even a few downpours could linger overnight and into early Sunday morni...

LAS VEGAS — Javon Kinlaw just might talk you into taking up pilates.Look at what those exercises did for his 6-foot-5 frame that, when healthy, can be among the 49ers’ most imposing on the NFL’s No. 1 defense.Three seasons into a career marred by knee issues, Kinlaw envisions a renaissance, that he’ll be such a “freak” that “the world is going to see” what he can do.Coaches and teammates have sung his praises all offseason and training camp, during which he — this is important — has not missed a practice. Sunday’s preseason opener at the Las Vegas Raiders could bring more kudos his way.The last game he played told a different story. Kinlaw was pushed around by the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Championship Game’s 31-7 disaster. Then he immediately went back to work.“I wasn’t able to play as low as I needed to. BRISBANE, Australia (AP) — Mackenzie Arnold’s impact on Australia’s biggest Women’s World Cup moment was so immense that it’s hardly surprising it took vanquished France coach Herve Renard to describe it best.“We came up against a Goliath of a goalie. What a game,” Renard said.Australia won a penalty shootout 7-6 against Renard’s team after their quarterfinal ended 0-0 in regulation and extra time on Saturday.Arnold was “the winning factor,” the French coach acknowledged, “both in normal time but also in extra time and then during the shootout.”Indeed.

Published Sat, 22 Feb 2025 04:05:11 GMT

Published Sat, 22 Feb 2025 04:05:11 GMT
