With the Mets trailing the Colorado Rockies 3-2 in the sixth inning, Stephen Nogosek issued a leadoff walk to Colorado Rockies second baseman Harold Castro. As Ezequiel Tovar stepped up to the plate, radio play-by-play announcer Howie Rose mentioned that the Mets had issued more walks than any other team in baseball this season and had given up more home runs.As if on cue, Tovar took Nogosek deep for a two-run homer that put the Rockies up 5-2. The Colorado bullpen made it stand up and the Mets lost their 10th game in their last 13 tries Saturday afternoon at Citi Field. The Mets (17-17) are in the midst of a tough stretch. The starting pitchers aren’t going deep into games and the bullpen is shouldering the load. The offense has been ice-cold. The Mets remain confident that they will get out of this slump, but a fanbase that often expects disaster is getting restless.Tylor Megill (3-2) had an inefficient outing, taking the loss after giving up three earned runs on six hits, wa...Photos: Boston hosts the majors, of the South End Little League

AUSTIN (Nexstar) - Communities along the border are facing an increase in migrants, as they prepare for a potential surge when Title 42 restrictions expire next week.Title 42 allows Border Patrol agents to expel migrants seeking asylum. It's a public health policy with roots in preventing the spread of disease. Former President Donald Trump invoked the policy to deter migration during the COVID-19 pandemic.Since the policy has been in place, more than two million migrants have been expelled, according to data from U.S. Customs and Border Protection. With the policy ending, thousands of people who were turned away after traveling to seek asylum are expected to try again to reenter the country. At a news conference Wednesday in El Paso, local leaders officials commented they are anticipating around 12,000 to 15,000 migrants to cross the border before May 11.Mayor Oscar Leeser said the migrants that roam the streets of El Paso are only passing through to other parts of the United States...Review: Woman-powered camaraderie elevates Ten Thousand Things’ “Emilia”

Who was that woman?British literature scholars asked that question for years about “the dark lady of the sonnets,” the mysterious inspiration for some of William Shakespeare’s most descriptive and passionate poetry. The current consensus is that it was Emilia Bassano, the daughter of a musician in England’s royal court. But who was Emilia Bassano? Seeking a more complete answer to that question, the historically inclined London-based theater company, Shakespeare’s Globe, commissioned playwright Morgan Lloyd Malcolm to create a play about a woman who was not only the object of the Bard’s fascination but also a published poet, a mistress, a mother and a mentor.Malcolm’s play, “Emilia,” was such a hit at the Globe that it ended up in London’s West End and won a few Olivier Awards (the English equivalent of a Tony). Now its Twin Cities premiere is closing the season for Ten Thousand Things Theater, a company known for weaving theatrical magic with simple stagings. For many reasons, local ...Latest news
